Student Accident Insurance
What Parents Need to Know About Student Accident Insurance
Accidents can happen anytime, at school, on field trips, during sports, or even at home. If your child is injured, our School Board does not provide accident insurance, and parents/guardians are responsible for costs not covered by OHIP or workplace health plans.
Many expenses, such as ambulance fees, casts, crutches, physiotherapy, and emergency dental care, are often not fully covered. These unexpected costs can add up quickly, so please check your current coverage.
To protect your family consider purchasing student accident insurance. As a convenience, the Board offers access to Old Republic Insurance Company of Canada’s insuremykids® program.
- Coverage is available for students up to age 26.
- Participation is voluntary but highly recommended.
- Costs are paid by the parent/guardian.
