Bishop Daniel Miehm Installed as 11th Bishop of the Diocese of London

The Diocese of London celebrated a historic moment on Monday as Bishop Daniel J. Miehm was formally installed as the 11th Bishop of London. His installation follows the final Mass celebrated on Sunday by the Most Rev. Ronald P. Fabbro, whose more than two decades of pastoral leadership have shaped Catholic life across southwestern Ontario.

Born in Kitchener and ordained to the priesthood in 1989, Bishop Miehm has served in parish leadership, diocesan ministry, as well as provincial and national roles. He currently serves on the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Permanent Council and chairs the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario Education Commission. Ordained a bishop in 2013, he has led the Diocese of Peterborough since 2017. His appointment by Pope Leo XIV marks a new chapter for Catholic communities throughout the region.

Lisa Demers, Director of Education for the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, expressed gratitude for Bishop Miehm’s longstanding dedication to Catholic education.

“We are deeply fortunate as a board and as part of a wider family of Catholic school communities to have such a devoted supporter of Catholic education,” says Demers. “Bishop Miehm’s commitment to faith formation and learning will continue to be a blessing for all of us.”

Board Chair John Van Heck reflected on Bishop Fabbro’s legacy.

“It has been an honour to serve as a Catholic School Board Trustee and be supported by Bishop Fabbro for so many years,” says Van Heck. “His pastoral leadership and steady presence have shaped our Catholic communities in profound ways, and we are grateful for his unwavering dedication.”
