'Chalk Our Walk' Welcomes Students Back to Christ the King
On Tuesday, students at Christ the King were greeted with colourful chalk drawings and uplifting messages as they arrived for their first day of school.
The artwork was created during the school's "Chalk Our Walk" event on Monday, where about 20 families spent the morning decorating the sidewalks and playground pavement.
“Our goal was to create a welcoming environment for our students on the first day, adding colour, joy and kindness to our sidewalks,” said principal Angèle Monette. “Also, any students who may have felt nervous and anxious about the first day of school were able to come to the event and ease some of those worries. “
In addition to making the first day of school more vibrant, it also brought families from the school community together.
“Students enjoyed being a part of school start-up by creating chalk games on the asphalt and messages of kindness,” said Monette. “New parents and students were able to connect and start making friendships with other families as well!”
