Class of Knowledge: UCC Graduates Celebrate Their Achievements

The Ursuline College Chatham Class of 2026 took center stage Thursday evening at the Capitol Theatre, surrounded by family, friends and staff.

The graduating class included 272 students. Back in Grade 9, the students chose the theme “Class of Knowledge” to represent them throughout their high school journey.

In her address to the graduates, Principal Lisa Harnarine acknowledged UCC’s rich history dating back to1860. She reminded the Class of 2026 that they follow in the footsteps of 165 graduating classes, all rooted in the vision of the Ursuline Sisters.

“As I look out to the hundreds of each of you, each of you have your own unique story,” said Principal Harnarine. “Each of you arrived at UCC with your own expectations. The beautiful thing that we’ve learned about watching you over these four years together is that you’ve formed community and have become part of this proud legacy that is called Ursuline College. Please continue to use your talents not only to achieve your own success but to serve others, build a strong community around you, and be the source of hope and light for everyone that crosses your path.”

Valedictorian Ethan Marcovich thanked parents, guardians and loved one for their unconditional love and support. He also thanked the students’ second family—the teachers and staff at UCC.

“Over the last four years, our teachers have molded and shaped us, even if we weren’t always willing participants,” said Marcovich.” They never gave up on us…they inspired us to do better than what we thought we could achieve.”

Marchovich also left his classmates with some words of wisdom.

“Success is defined differently by different people, but we must never forget that we are all capable of succeeding,” Marcovich told his fellow graduates. “You do not need to be a superstar to be successful. You don’t have to be the fastest, best looking, or most popular. Don’t be afraid to take risks, do not feel fear of failure, and never waiver from your belief that you can succeed.”
