Grade 7 Students Launch "Tools for Schools" Initiative to Support Local Youth

The Grade 7 students at St. John Fisher Catholic School recently demonstrated leadership, compassion, and community spirit through their ENACTUS project, Tools for Schools.

Recognizing that many students begin the school year without access to essential learning materials, the Grade 7 students created a school-wide initiative to collect backpacks, lunch bags, pencils, crayons, markers, glue, and other school supplies for youth in need. To encourage participation, students organized a friendly class competition and rallied the St. John Fisher school community to support the cause. A total of 850 items were collected through the generosity of students and staff.

As part of the ENACTUS program, students presented their project to judges at Lambton College, showcasing their research, planning, and commitment to making a positive impact in their community. To ensure the donated supplies reached families who needed them most, students partnered with Noelle's Gift, a local organization dedicated to supporting children and families.

"It was amazing to see how much of an impact we could make within our own school community," said Grade 7 student Evie Struyf.

"We wanted every student to feel included and have the supplies they need to start the school year with confidence,” added Grade 7 student Ian. “It was great to see our school come together to help others."

The success of Tools for Schools reflects the students' dedication to helping others while promoting equity in education.

"I was incredibly proud of the leadership, initiative, and teamwork our students demonstrated throughout this project,” said Mrs. James, the teacher who supported the initiative. “They identified a real need in the community and worked hard to help ensure all students have access to the supplies they need for success."

"The success of Tools for Schools reflects the compassion and commitment of our students," added Mrs. Tremblay, Principal of St. John Fisher Catholic School. "Their efforts helped make a positive difference in the lives of others, and our entire school community is proud of what they accomplished."

Following the success of this year's campaign, students hope to continue and expand the Tools for Schools initiative next year, helping even more children begin the school year ready to learn and succeed.
