Lockdown at St. Anne Catholic School Lifted; All Students and Staff Safe

Earlier today, St. Anne Catholic School in Blenheim, along with other nearby schools and businesses, were placed in a lockdown as a precaution due to an incident in the community.

At the direction of Chatham-Kent Police Services (CKPS), the school remained in lockdown while the situation was addressed.  An increased police presence was stationed throughout the community to ensure everyone’s safety.

A short time after calling the lockdown, CKPS confirmed that the situation had been de-escalated and that there were no safety concerns for students or staff.  The lockdown was then lifted, and normal activities resumed.

We recognize that situations like this can be stressful for students and staff.  To support those who may be affected, our compassionate care team is being made available at the school.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff continue to be our highest priority.  We’re grateful to our school staff for their calm, quick actions in keeping everyone safe, and we sincerely thank the Chatham-Kent Police Service for their prompt response and support while resolving the situation.
