Track and Field Meet Brings Together Student-Athletes Across Sarnia-Lambton
On June 16, student-athletes showcased their skills and sportsmanship at the annual Lambton Catholic Schools Athletic Council Track and Field Meet at St. Patrick’s High School.
Around 350 participants from Grades 3 to 8 competed in several events ranging from the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes to long jump and shot put.
“This is one of the highlights of the year for many of our student-athletes,” says Stephanie Orrange, the Principal Representative for LCSAC. “At the end of the day, it’s not just about the results — it’s about doing your best, staying active, celebrating each other’s achievements and having fun. Those are the lessons and memories we hope students take away from this experience.”
It was also a record-setting day on the track.
Sacred Heart Sarnia student Colton Juryn broke a pair of records, setting a new mark in the junior boys 100-meter with a time of 14.04 seconds, as well as the 400-meter running 1.10.24.
St. Anne Sarnia student Chibuzo Amadi tied the record for the junior boys 200-meter with a time of 30.34.
The sidelines were filled with family and friends cheering on the student-athletes.
